Reuters news agency reported, citing two Syrian military sources and an American official, that dozens of soldiers affiliated with the government of Mohammad al-Julani have been sent to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks as part of defense cooperation.
According to this report, the mission of these forces is to provide advice and training to the Saudi and Yemeni military forces, but informed sources have said that the scope of their activities and powers may go beyond training programs.
A US official has also warned Reuters that the participation of Syrian troops in the Yemen war could drag Syria into a wider regional conflict.
