North Korean hackers allegedly stole $6.36 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance

An American intelligence firm called T-Aram Labs has claimed that a North Korean-affiliated hacking group called Trader Traitor has stolen approximately $6.36 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, in what would be the largest cryptocurrency theft on record if confirmed.

According to the company, hackers carried out the theft in about 20 minutes and on 10 blockchain networks by infiltrating asset transfer confirmation systems.

T-Aram Labs added that about $2.7 billion in stolen assets have been frozen so far, but the hackers still have access to about $2.4 billion in Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Meanwhile, Binance has announced that it will compensate users for their losses from the company’s financial resources. The US President, in response to a question about the possibility of North Korean hackers being involved in the incident, said that the case is being investigated.
