Lavrov: Central Asian countries may also be targets of “color revolutions”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned that any country, including Central Asian countries, could become the target of what he called “color revolutions organized by the West.”
Attempts to launch such movements in a number of Russia’s neighboring countries have so far been foiled, Lavrov said at a security summit on Central Asia and Afghanistan in Moscow on Friday.
He also referred to the twenty-year presence of the United States and other NATO member countries in Afghanistan, saying that the consequences of this presence will remain for a long time and that addressing its legacy will take time.
The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
