ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC have stopped joint television coverage of Donald Trump’s programs after the White House banned reporters from some media outlets. These networks previously took turns providing images of the president’s programs to other media outlets.
Meanwhile, MS Now and Politico have sued the Trump administration in federal court in Washington, demanding that the ban on their journalists enter the White House be lifted, saying the move violates freedom of expression and press freedom.
Following the suspension of joint television coverage of Trump’s trip to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, they did not send a replacement team to provide images, an action that caused joint television coverage of these programs to be suspended.
In response to these disputes, Trump has accused media outlets critical of his administration of publishing “fake news,” and the White House has considered access to the White House grounds a privilege. In contrast, the complaining media outlets say the restrictions were imposed because of the content of their reports.
