Venezuela confirms oil deal with US; Trump: We will take control of major oil reserves

Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, has approved the oil deal with the United States, describing it as “historic.”

US President Donald Trump has claimed that Washington will gain control of more than half of Venezuela’s 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves under this agreement, calling it “the largest oil deal in the history of the world.”

Trump has said that the agreement will increase oil supply at no cost to American taxpayers and, in the long run, could help lower gasoline prices in the United States.

Rodriguez has also said that the agreement could bring more than $100 billion in investment and more than $209 billion in tax revenue to Venezuela.
