Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted by the Tass news agency as saying that Britain’s continued policy of escalating tensions with Russia could pose a serious threat to the country’s security.
Ryabkov claimed that by expanding support for the Ukrainian government, London is at risk of turning from a de facto party to the conflict into a legal party to the dispute, and Russia has warned British officials about the consequences of continuing this policy.
According to him, Moscow’s positions on this issue were outlined in a note recently delivered to the Chargé d’Affaires of the British Embassy in Russia.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister also said that the continuation of Russian military operations is not an obstacle to achieving a long-term solution to the Ukrainian conflict. He emphasized Moscow’s readiness for negotiations, but said that from Russia’s perspective, a ceasefire could provide an opportunity for Ukrainian forces to regroup.
