Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech to the UN General Assembly that Gaza has become “the largest children’s cemetery in the world” and that a large number of Palestinian children in the region have faced amputations.
Erdogan accused Israel of carrying out “state terrorism” in Gaza and said Palestinian children should see safe skies and flying helicopters instead of warplanes and drones; he also stressed the need to protect civilians in Lebanon.
Referring to the continuation of the conflict, the Turkish President said that continuing the war is not in anyone’s interest and emphasized maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Erdogan also called the recent attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea unacceptable, regardless of the perpetrator. According to a published report, the Israeli delegation left the General Assembly hall during his speech.
