According to preliminary results announced by the Russian Central Election Commission, the United Russia party is leading the country’s parliamentary elections with about 57% of the vote.
Following United Russia are the Communist Party of Russia with about 14 percent, the Liberal Democratic Party with about 9 percent, and the New People’s Party with about 8 percent of the vote. These figures are based on the initial vote count and may change once the count is complete.
The Russian parliamentary elections were held from September 18 to 20 to determine 450 seats in the State Duma, the lower house of the country’s parliament. These are the first parliamentary elections in Russia since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also voted online in this election. The final results will be known after the counting process is completed and the Central Election Commission officially announces it.
