Oil tanker accident in northern Oman waters: Investigation into details continues
The British Maritime Operations Organization has announced that an oil tanker caught fire about 15 kilometers east of the town of Lima in northern Omani waters after being hit by an unidentified projectile.
The organization added that no human casualties or environmental damage have been reported so far, and that investigations into the cause and details of the incident are ongoing. It also advised passing vessels to use caution in the area.
At the same time, some sources have claimed that the Qatari oil tanker “Al-Raqqayat” was attacked while passing through the Omani route in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, an American official, speaking to the Axios website, claimed that Iran fired at least two missiles at commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, damaging two ships but not injuring anyone. This claim has not yet been confirmed by independent sources or Iran.
