US Vice President Jeddah Vance announced in an interview with the “Megyn Kelly” program that the US government did not initially intend to enter into a long and attritional war in the region.
Referring to Washington’s past experiences in West Asia, he said that the Trump administration is well aware of the risk of getting caught up in endless conflicts and has tried to prevent it from going down such a path.
Vance also claimed that if Tehran adheres to the agreement, the groundwork will be laid for Iran’s economic reconstruction with the support of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf.
In response to a question about criticism from some monarchist movements about the recent agreement with Iran, the US Vice President said: “The Trump administration has never stated its goal of bringing Reza Pahlavi to power or establishing a new government in Iran.”
He added: “Issues related to Iran’s political structure are a matter that must be resolved between the Iranian people and the government of this country, and what is important to America is stopping Iran’s nuclear program.”
