The Axios website, citing two American officials and an informed source, reported that US President Donald Trump, in a recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, severely criticized him for escalating Israel’s military operations in Lebanon.
According to the report, in this tense conversation, Trump described Netanyahu as a “damn lunatic” and accused him of ungratefulness.
Informed sources also said that the US president, warning of a possible attack on Beirut, emphasized that such an action could further isolate Israel on the global stage.
Axios added that Trump also mentioned his past support for Netanyahu in this call and claimed that he had supported him in legal cases.
