Al Jazeera reporter: Lifting the naval blockade was Iran’s first condition on the path to understanding

Al Jazeera correspondent Ali Hashem reported, citing an informed source, that Donald Trump’s announcement about lifting the blockade of Iranian ports was actually Tehran’s first condition for initiating the next steps in the process of understanding between the two sides.

According to this source, Iran has emphasized the official and public announcement of this action, considering it a fundamental step to build trust before entering into more sensitive issues; an issue that has apparently been of less importance from Washington’s perspective.

The source also said that no direct talks have been held on the nuclear issue so far, and the negotiation process is expected to proceed gradually and through a memorandum of understanding, so that every action by one side is accompanied by a reciprocal action by the other side.

According to this report, the declaration of a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel is also expected to be part of a broader framework that is taking shape.
