Afghan immigrant arrested in Germany on charges of sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl
German media reported that a 20-year-old Afghan immigrant has been arrested in the country on charges of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in a school bathroom in the city of Koblenz.
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on April 28; the suspect and another man entered the school grounds, and the suspect trapped the girl in the bathroom while the other 19-year-old man apparently restrained the girl.
The girl told her older sister about the incident two days after the incident, and her family found the suspect in a nearby house and notified the police.
German authorities arrested the suspect on May 4; he remains in pretrial detention and is accused of committing sexual acts against a child on school grounds.
Prosecutors have announced that the man was previously under investigation in another sex crime case.
Police said the suspect’s main accomplice is still at large. Authorities have not explained how the two men entered the school grounds.
