The Washington Post reported, citing US officials, that the Pentagon will send thousands of additional military forces to the Middle East in the coming days.
This deployment is aimed at pressuring Iran to reach an agreement.
About 6,000 troops are being deployed to the region along with the aircraft carrier Bush and its accompanying warships.
Another 4,200 troops from the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, including the 11th Marines Battalion, are also expected to arrive in the region by the end of April.
The deployment is timed to coincide with the approaching end of a two-week ceasefire on April 22.
