Russia calls for immediate end to Afghanistan-Pakistan border clashes

The Russian Foreign Ministry, expressing concern over the escalation of border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, called on the parties to immediately cease hostilities and resolve differences through dialogue and diplomacy.

The ministry announced that Russia is ready to consider and provide assistance in this regard if either side formally requests mediation.

This stance comes at a time when the Islamic Emirate’s defense forces carried out a massive retaliatory operation against Pakistani military positions on the other side of the hypothetical Durand Line on Thursday night, resulting in the killing and wounding of dozens of Pakistani militiamen.

In response to this operation, the Pakistani military regime also carried out airstrikes on locations in three provinces of the country: Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.

Russia had previously emphasized the need for restraint and a return to negotiations, and now, given the increasing risk of regional instability, it has raised its potential mediation role.
