Kim Jong-un focuses on increasing nuclear weapons, intercontinental missiles and artificial intelligence weapons

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced today at the end of the 9th Congress of the country’s Workers’ Party that Pyongyang will focus on increasing the number of nuclear weapons, developing intercontinental ballistic missiles, artificial intelligence-based attack systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.

He emphasized that strengthening and expanding national nuclear power is North Korea’s firm and irreversible will, and that the country will continue to comprehensively develop its nuclear and missile capabilities.

In another part of his speech on relations with the United States, Kim said that if Washington abandons the “policy of confrontation” and recognizes the current status of North Korea, there would be a possibility of improving bilateral relations.

These statements come as Kim Jong-un was elected General Secretary for a new term at the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party and announced new five-year military and economic plans.
