US extends sanctions against Russia over Crimea and Ukraine war until March 2027

US President Donald Trump has extended specific sanctions previously imposed on Russia in connection with the annexation of Crimea and the war in Ukraine for another year.

The Federal Register reported Thursday evening that the sanctions, including executive orders issued in February 2022, September 2018, March 2018, and December 2014, will continue beyond March 6, 2026.

Trump emphasized in the text of the extension: “All of these restrictive measures must continue beyond March 6, 2026.”

This decision is part of America’s policy of maximum pressure on Russia in the context of the Ukraine crisis and the Crimea issue.
