Train derailment in Swiss Alps leaves at least 5 wounded
A regional railway train derailed in the Swiss Alps, injuring at least five people.
The incident occurred near the town of Gupenstein in the canton of Valais. According to local media reports, there were about 30 passengers on the train.
At the time of the accident, the avalanche warning level was declared at Zone 4 (High). Shortly before the train passed, an avalanche blocked the railway track with snow, which led to the train derailing.
Rescue forces and police were quickly dispatched to the scene and the injured were transferred to medical centers. The condition of the injured is being assessed and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.
