Russian Embassy in Denmark: We will respond appropriately to NATO’s Operation Polar Guardian

The Russian Embassy in Denmark announced in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency that Moscow will respond to NATO’s Operation Arctic Sentry with an appropriate military-technical response that is consistent with the decisions taken in the alliance.

Russian diplomats emphasized that any increase in NATO’s military presence and activity in the Arctic regions, especially near Russia’s borders, directly affects the national security of the Russian Federation, and Moscow has the right to implement the necessary countermeasures to maintain the security balance.

This position has been taken at a time when NATO has launched Operation Polar Guardian with the aim of expanding its military presence, holding large-scale exercises, and strengthening surveillance in the Arctic, and is involving tens of thousands of soldiers and dozens of ships in these exercises.

The Russian embassy also warned that further militarization of the Arctic region could lead to an escalation of tensions and a decrease in the overall level of security in the region, and Moscow will never allow the strategic balance to change to the detriment of its national interests.
