Russian Deputy Defense Minister Meets with Afghan Defense Ministry Official in Moscow

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Vasily Osmekov met with Afghan Deputy Defense Minister Mohammad Farid in Moscow on Wednesday, Russian media quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying.

The meeting reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and the prospects for expanding cooperation in areas of common interest.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to take further joint steps to establish regular and systematic cooperation in the fields of defense and security.

So far, the officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have not officially commented on the meeting.

This meeting takes place at a time when relations between Russia and Afghanistan have been developing in recent years, and Moscow is seeking to strengthen defense and strategic relations with Kabul.
