Trump: Venezuela’s interim government will deliver up to 50 million barrels of oil to the US

US President Donald Trump announced in a post on the Truth Social network on Wednesday morning (January 7, 2026) that Venezuela’s interim authorities would deliver between 30 and 50 million barrels of high-quality, sanctioned oil to the United States.

Trump emphasized that the oil will be sold at market prices and that he will personally oversee the management of the proceeds to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States.

He has asked the Secretary of Energy to implement this plan immediately and transport oil to American ports via tankers.

The announcement comes after the US military operation and the arrest of Nicolas Maduro, who has appointed Delcy Rodriguez as interim president.

This volume of oil could be worth up to $2.8 billion and is part of Trump’s strategy to exploit Venezuela’s vast reserves.
