Aidaroos al-Zubaidi, head of the Southern Yemeni Transitional Council, flees to an unknown location
The Saudi-led coalition announced that Aidros al-Zubaidi, head of the Southern Transitional Council of Yemen and a key ally of the United Arab Emirates, has fled to an unknown location.
The official spokesman for the Saudi coalition emphasized that Al-Zubaidi left the leaders of the Transitional Council alone on a plane that was allowed to depart for Riyadh and fled.
According to the spokesman, before fleeing, al-Zubaidi had moved large forces with heavy and light weapons and ammunition from the Hadid and al-Sulban camps towards the al-Dhale area.
The Saudi coalition announced that it had launched preemptive strikes at dawn to thwart al-Zubaidi’s plan to spread the conflict to al-Dhale’.
These developments are occurring as tensions continue between the UAE-backed Southern Yemeni Transitional Council and the Saudi-backed government in southern Yemen.
