Jalali: The 20-year US occupation of Afghanistan was an exceptional phase

Zakir Jalali, the second political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, called the 20-year period of US military presence in Afghanistan an exceptional and unusual stage in the relations between the two countries.

He wrote on his page X that there is no particular complexity in the current relations between Kabul and Washington, and that America’s positive role in major development projects such as Kandahar Airport and the Kajaki Dam in Helmand should not be ignored.

Mr. Jalali added that current interactions between the two sides have reached a stage where there are no serious obstacles to the restoration and expansion of relations.

The Foreign Ministry official emphasized that the signing of the Doha Agreement demonstrates significant pragmatism on both sides to avoid being trapped in the past and to focus on new opportunities with a realistic approach.
