The United Nations declared that Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peace Affairs, is planning a trip to Kabul in late January (2026).
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric announced on Wednesday (January 14 )that details of the trip will be released once finalized, and that its main goal is to follow up on the Doha process, which was launched by Antonio Guterres in May 2023.
He emphasized that interaction should be pragmatic and in the interests of the Afghan people.
This visit is part of the UN’s diplomatic efforts to engage constructively with the Islamic Emirate on humanitarian, economic, and political issues in Afghanistan.
