Putin to Maduro: Russia stands firmly with Venezuela

In an official message to Nicolas Maduro on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized Moscow’s firm and irrevocable support for Venezuela against foreign pressure.

Putin described 2025 as a very successful year for bilateral relations, noting the signing of a strategic partnership treaty between the two countries, which has initiated the qualitative development of cooperation in all areas.

He also announced Russia’s readiness to continue close cooperation on key bilateral and international issues.

The message was released as tensions between Venezuela and the United States reached a peak over oil sanctions and the seizure of ships carrying the country’s crude oil.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto considered this message a sign of the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries.

Experts consider Putin’s move a strong signal to Washington to back off on pressure on the Maduro government.
