Armed robbery at three banks in Pakistan’s Balochistan nets over Rs 155 million

A group of gunmen attacked three private banks in Chatkan market of Panjgur district on Sunday and fled the scene after stealing more than 155 million Pakistani rupees, police in Pakistan’s Balochistan province said.

According to police, the attack occurred while transferring money from banks and led to an armed clash between security forces and the attackers.

As a result of the exchange, two people, including a police officer, were killed and four other policemen were wounded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the armed robbery, but the Panjgur area has witnessed the activities of Baloch separatist and insurgent groups in recent years.

The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in Balochistan province and highlights the ongoing challenges security forces face in combating organized crime and insecurity in remote areas.
