A fierce clash broke out between a group of Baloch and Pakistani police forces in the Malir area of Karachi.
Videos of this clash have been widely published and shared on social media by Pakistani media outlets and Baloch activists.
The main cause of the conflict was an attack by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on the homes of Baloch citizens in the Sharafi Ghot area, during which at least six Baloch youth were arrested and taken to an unknown location.
Eyewitnesses say that CTD officers destroyed people’s property and physically attacked residents during the operation.
This incident is part of a recent wave of widespread protests and repression against the Baloch community in the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
Human rights activists have described these actions as a “systematic attack” on the Baloch.
So far, Pakistani officials have not announced the exact details and possible casualties of the conflict.
