Lavrov: Putin’s order to prepare for nuclear tests is being implemented

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Saturday evening that President Vladimir Putin’s order to prepare and assess the possibility of conducting nuclear tests has been accepted and is being implemented.

Lavrov emphasized in a speech, “The results of this order will be made public.”

In response to US President Donald Trump’s recent statements about resuming nuclear tests, he said, “It is not clear whether Trump meant testing nuclear weapons carriers or subcritical tests. We have not received any explanation on this matter through diplomatic channels so far.”

The Russian Foreign Minister added: “Statements by Washington officials show that even the Americans themselves do not have a common understanding of what their president means.”

These statements come as tensions continue over nuclear programs and disarmament between Russia and the United States.
