UN warns Trump: Nuclear testing is never allowed; catastrophic risk
The United Nations on Thursday (October 30, 2025) warned of the catastrophic consequences of such a decision in response to US President Donald Trump’s order to resume nuclear weapons testing.
UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq emphasized at a press conference that nuclear weapons testing is never permitted under any circumstances.
According to the Associated Press, in response to reporters’ questions about Trump’s recent statements, he stated that the Secretary-General has been saying for some time that the current nuclear risks are alarmingly high and that all actions that could lead to miscalculation or escalation with catastrophic consequences should be avoided.
Haq added: “We must not forget the catastrophic legacy of more than 2,000 nuclear weapons tests conducted over the past 80 years.”
The warning came as Trump, in a message on the Truth Social network on Thursday morning, ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons tests on par with Russia and China.
