Syria recognizes Kosovo as an independent country

Syria recognized Kosovo as an independent state after a trilateral meeting in Riyadh attended by Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Kosovo President Vuosa Osmani.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry announced that this decision was made based on Damascus’ belief in the right of nations to determine their own destiny and efforts for peace and stability in the Balkans and the world, and is consistent with Syria’s broad policy of expanding friendly relations with countries.

Damascus appreciated the mediating role of Saudi Arabia and emphasized that it intends to soon establish diplomatic, political, economic and cultural relations with Kosovo.

It is worth noting that this step brought Kosovo to 120 countries supporting its independence.
