Trump: I won’t meet with Putin until I’m sure we can reach a deal on Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced that he will not meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin until he is confident that an agreement can be reached on the war in Ukraine.

Trump told reporters on Saturday evening, October 25, while flying from Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Air Force One, “I need to know that we’re going to reach a deal. I’m not going to waste my time.”

“I have always had good relations with Vladimir Putin, but this has been very disappointing,” he added.

Trump’s comments came after he canceled a planned meeting with Putin in Budapest, Hungary, which he described as a “waste of time.”

Trump spoke with Putin by phone last week and discussed the possibility of an early meeting, but Russian officials have stressed that they do not intend to reach an immediate agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
