Hamas and Fatah agreed on deployment of international forces in Gaza
Hamas announced that it had reached an agreement with Fatah on the deployment of international forces in the Gaza Strip.
This agreement was reached within the framework of recent negotiations between the two Palestinian factions in the Egyptian capital Cairo and is part of efforts to jointly administer Gaza after the war.
According to reports, a committee of 10 to 15 independent, political technocrats, mainly from Gaza, will be formed to manage education, health, the economy, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction, and will operate with the support of international actors.
The committee will also be responsible for managing the Palestinian side of the Rafah port with Egypt.
The agreement will be implemented after a possible ceasefire with the Israeli regime and will continue until general elections are held in Gaza and the West Bank.
Israel has so far ruled out any role for Hamas or Fatah in the post-war administration of Gaza, but the agreement could help unite Palestinians and advance ceasefire talks.
