The moment the bodies of Israeli prisoners were handed over to the Red Cross is a symbol of the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement

In one of the historic and emotional moments of the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which was signed at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, handed over the bodies of several Israeli prisoners to a convoy of the International Committee of the Red Cross at specific points in the southern and northern Gaza Strip.

The event, which took place hours after the release of 20 live Israeli prisoners, was carried out under the close supervision of Hamas security forces and in the presence of Red Cross representatives, and has been described as an important step in the prisoner exchange and the official end of the two-year war.

According to Al Jazeera and Israeli media, a Red Cross convoy entered abandoned buildings in northern Gaza on Tuesday (October 13) to receive the bodies.

In the first phase, four coffins containing bodies were received, and DNA tests later confirmed the identities of three missing Israelis, including Shiri Bibas and a Nepalese student.

Hamas announced in an official statement that this handover is part of the agreement’s obligations and that any transfer of bodies is the result of the Israeli regime’s heavy bombardment.
