Trump arrives in occupied Palestine to oversee prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement
US President Donald Trump arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Monday morning, October 13, 2025.
This short trip, lasting only a few hours, is part of Trump’s plan to celebrate the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and the Israeli regime, which was reached with the mediation of Washington, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
Trump was welcomed immediately upon landing by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.
At the same time, the convoy carrying the first group of Zionist prisoners released by Hamas entered Israeli territory and was transferred to the Ra’im military base in the south.
According to the agreement, Hamas has committed to releasing 20 living Israeli prisoners out of a total of 48 remaining prisoners in exchange for the release of approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
This exchange is the first phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan to end the more than two-year-old war in Gaza.
In a speech before boarding the plane at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump described the agreement as the end of the war and said: “This is going to be a very special time.”
Trump’s travel plan includes meeting with the families of Zionist prisoners and then giving a speech at the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.
He will then fly to Egypt to chair the Sharm El Sheikh peace summit attended by more than 20 world leaders.
US Vice President J.D. Vance has stressed that the United States has no plans to send military forces to Gaza or Israel, although reports have emerged of preparations to send 200 US troops to monitor a ceasefire.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump called this achievement his greatest diplomatic success, while Netanyahu warned that the next stages of the agreement still require negotiation.
