North Korea unveiled its newest and most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong-20, in a massive military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country’s ruling Workers’ Party.

The parade, which took place on Friday at the capital’s Kim Il-sung Square, was overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and attended by senior officials including Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Russian Security Council Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

According to the North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the Hwasong-20 was described as the military’s most powerful strategic nuclear weapon system and was carried on an 11-axle launch vehicle.

In addition to the new ICBM, the parade showcased some of North Korea’s most advanced weapons, including strategic cruise missiles, long-range drone launch vehicles, new tanks, and hypersonic weapons such as the Hwasong-11Ma.
