Polish airspace closed on border with Ukraine due to unplanned military activity

Flight Radar 24 flight tracking service announced on Sunday (September 28, 2025) that airspace near the Lublin and Rzeszow regions of Poland was closed due to unplanned military activity related to ensuring the country’s security.

These eastern regions of Poland are located along the border with Ukraine, and the airspace closure will continue until at least 04:00 local time.

The Polish military announced that it had scrambled Polish and NATO allied fighter jets to protect its airspace after Russia launched airstrikes on Ukraine and Russian drones entered Polish airspace.

This incident is part of the recent accusations by European countries against Russia, which include the infiltration of drones and the flying of Russian fighter jets over the skies of Eastern and Northern European countries, including Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has described these preventive measures as a way to protect his country’s citizens and airspace.
