Kim Jong-un oversees testing of unmanned weapons systems in North Korea
North Korea’s official news agency (KCNA) reported that the country’s leader Kim Jong Un supervised the testing of a number of unmanned weapons systems on Thursday (September 18, 2025).
The tests included tactical attack drones, strategic and tactical reconnaissance drones, and multi-role unmanned aerial vehicles developed by the Unmanned Aerial Technology Complex (UATC).
Expressing great satisfaction with the results of these tests, Kim Jong-un emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence technology in unmanned weapons is a top priority in the modernization process of the North Korean armed forces.
He ordered that the operational capabilities of these systems be strengthened by rapidly integrating artificial intelligence and focusing on readiness for modern warfare.
The tests come as North Korea increasingly invests in unmanned technologies, including suicide drones equipped with artificial intelligence, which were previously tested in March 2025.
