Yemeni drone attack on Ramon airfield, Eilat airspace closed
Hebrew sources reported that a drone launched from Yemen successfully bypassed the Israeli defense systems and hit the Ramon airfield in southern occupied Palestine.
Israeli Channel 14 TV confirmed that the drone exploded in the airfield area, and moments after the explosion, a loud noise was heard in the area.
Following the attack, the airspace over Ramon Airport was completely closed and flights were suspended.
The Israeli army claimed to have intercepted a projectile in Eilat, but Hebrew sources admitted that the Yemeni drone entered Eilat airspace without activating the warning bells and that radar systems failed to detect it.
The attack, which injured at least two people and damaged the airport’s passenger terminal, has raised serious concerns among Israeli officials.
The mayor of Eilat described the incident as “very worrying” and said that the Yemenis “are a real threat to us.”
