Hamas: We are ready for an immediate agreement on a ceasefire and the release of prisoners
The Hamas movement announced on Monday morning that it had received proposals from the United States through mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement and release prisoners, and was ready to immediately sit at the negotiating table.
The group emphasized its conditions for a complete cessation of hostilities, a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and the formation of a committee of independent Palestinians to manage Gaza.
Hamas also noted that it had agreed to a similar plan in Cairo on August 18, 2025, but the Israeli regime has not responded to it so far and has continued its “crimes and ethnic cleansing.”
According to the Axios news website, the new US offer includes the release of the remaining 48 prisoners in exchange for a ceasefire and a halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza City.
The plan also includes Israel’s commitment to release 2,500 to 3,000 Palestinian prisoners, including hundreds sentenced to life imprisonment.
