Israeli drone attack on Abu Salim mosque in Gaza leaves one woman martyred and several injured

Local Palestinian sources reported that on the morning of Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Abu Salim Mosque in the Deir al-Balah area in the central Gaza Strip was targeted by drone attacks by Israeli forces at least three times.

According to Al-Mayadeen Network, a Palestinian woman was martyred and several others were injured in the attack.

According to international law, deliberate attacks on religious sites are prohibited. However, the Gaza Ministry of Endowments announced that Israeli forces have so far demolished 79 percent of Gaza’s mosques and completely destroyed three churches.

Historic monuments such as the 1,400-year-old Umari Grand Mosque, the Sayyid al-Hashim Mosque, the Katib al-Wola Mosque, the Church of Saint Porphyrios, the Church of the Holy Family, and the Ahli Baptist Church have also been either completely destroyed or seriously damaged.

This attack comes as Israel’s siege and military operations in the Gaza Strip continue, and international criticism of violations of humanitarian law in the region has intensified.
