Kremlin: Putin is ready for trilateral talks with Zelensky and Trump
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Friday (September 5, 2025) that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready for a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump to discuss the Ukrainian crisis.
Peskov emphasized that Russia prefers to pursue its goals in Ukraine through peaceful means, but considers the presence of foreign military forces on Ukrainian territory a direct threat to its national security.
Peskov stated: “The West is talking about ensuring Ukraine’s security through the deployment of European forces, but for us this is a return to the root causes of the conflict; the presence of any foreign or NATO forces on our borders is unacceptable, and we will take all necessary measures to ensure our security.”
Putin also warned that if international special forces are deployed in Ukraine, they will be considered “legitimate military targets for Russia.
