Macron: Putin’s failure to agree to Zelensky’s meeting by Monday means Trump is being deceived again
French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Friday during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Toulon, France that if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a proposal for a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by Monday, this action will show that Putin has once again played Donald Trump.
Macron made the remarks in response to Trump’s recent efforts to mediate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, warning that a lack of progress in the talks could lead to further sanctions against Moscow.
The White House also announced in a statement that US President Donald Trump is still coordinating a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
However, the Kremlin has not yet officially announced its agreement to the meeting, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that any meeting at the leadership level requires careful preparation at an expert level.
