Terrorist attack on mosque in northern Nigeria leaves 27 dead

In a horrific terrorist attack, unknown gunmen stormed a mosque in a remote village in the Malumfashi region of northern Nigeria, killing 27 worshippers.

According to local residents, the attack occurred at around 4am GMT when people had gathered for morning prayers.

The attackers entered the mosque and opened fire on worshippers; no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

This incident comes after Nigerian media had previously reported the killing of seven worshippers in a similar attack on a mosque in the village of Saya Saya in Kaduna state in the northwestern part of the country.

Local authorities are investigating the incident and no further details have been released.

The attack has once again raised concerns about security in northern Nigeria.
