Donald Trump’s important meeting with Zelensky and European leaders at the White House to discuss Ukraine peace
US President Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a number of senior European leaders at the White House to discuss ways to end the Ukraine-Russia war.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures such as French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Staab, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The meeting followed Trump’s recent talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, during which, according to US special envoy Steve Witkoff, Putin agreed to provide strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
Zelensky, while welcoming this initiative, emphasized the need for Europe’s presence in the negotiations, saying: “Our joint power with the United States and European allies can force Russia to make real peace.”
