Zelensky likely to attend Trump-Putin summit in Alaska

According to a report by NBC News, the White House is considering inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Alaska, where US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, August 8, 2025.

The meeting is aimed at discussing the possibility of a ceasefire in the Ukrainian war.

A senior American official told NBC News that Zelensky’s presence at the meeting is entirely possible and everyone is very hopeful that it will happen.

However, the official invitation to Zelensky has not yet been finalized and it is unclear whether he will attend the meeting.

Informed sources have also stated that it is unclear whether Putin and Zelensky would be willing to meet in the same room.

Zelensky has previously emphasized that any peace negotiations without Ukraine’s presence will be dead decisions and will not lead to results.

He also rejected the idea of a land swap with Russia, saying: “Ukrainians will not give up their land to the occupiers.”
