Military helicopter crashes in Ghana; defense and environment ministers among 8 dead
According to Reuters, eight people, including Edward Omaneh Bo Amah, the Minister of Defense, and Ibrahim Murtaza Mohammed, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, died after a Ghanaian Air Force military helicopter crashed in the Ashanti region on Wednesday (6th of August).
The incident, described as one of Ghana’s worst air accidents in more than a decade, occurred on a flight from the capital Accra to the mining town of Obosi.
The helicopter, which was carrying three military crew members and five government officials, disappeared from radar after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m. local time and its wreckage was found in the Adansi Akrofum area.
The cause of the crash is not yet known and the Ghana Armed Forces have said an investigation is underway.
