Unveiling of a more advanced version of the Su-57 and an export contract with Algeria
Military Watch Magazine, according to a speculation database, indicates that a more advanced version of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, called the Su-571, will soon replace the current model in Sukhoi’s production lines.
This upgraded version will likely feature more advanced technologies such as new AL-51F1 engines, improved stealth, and more advanced avionics capabilities, which will enhance the fighter’s performance in air combat and multi-role missions.
The contract, estimated to be worth around $2 billion, is part of Algeria’s air force modernization program and a response to the purchase of F-16 fighter jets by its regional rival Morocco.
Reports indicate that Algerian pilots are currently undergoing training in Russia, and deliveries of these fighters are likely to begin by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
These developments come as the production of the Su-57 has faced challenges including international sanctions, supply chain problems, and delays in the development of a new engine.
