Russia sets new record against Ukraine by launching 6,297 drones in July 2025

According to reports by Ukrainian analysts and data from the country’s Air Force, in July 2025, Russia set an unprecedented record in its drone attacks on Ukraine by launching 6,297 “Witness” kamikaze drones and “Gerbera” decoy drones.

This number represents a 1,378 percent increase over July 2024, when only 426 drones were launched.

These reports indicate that Russian drone attacks were carried out without interruption for all 31 days of July, making this the first month in which more than 6,000 drones were used against Ukraine in a 30-day period.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has reported that Russia has increased the accuracy of its attacks by installing thermal imaging cameras on some surveillance drones.

Ukraine has responded with retaliatory drone attacks on Russian military installations and oil and gas infrastructure, including air bases in Siberia and Murmansk, causing significant damage to the country.
