Robotic police officer unveiled in Shanghai, a new step in intelligent traffic management
In an innovative move, the city of Shanghai, China, unveiled a humanoid traffic police robot named “Xiaohu Little Tiger” in the busy Huangpu area.
This robot, which is designed with warning lights, voice commands, and hand gestures similar to those of police officers, is responsible for directing traffic and guiding pedestrians.
The robot, which is still in the experimental stage, is capable of answering basic questions about driving rules and showing directions to pedestrians.
Officials say the technology has been in development for four years and aims to use robots instead of human officers in high-traffic areas or large events in the future.
This move is part of China’s plan to integrate artificial intelligence and robotics technologies into urban management and increase citizen safety.
