The third round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks ends in Istanbul

The third round of peace talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, mediated by Türkiye, was held and concluded at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul.

The meeting was held in the presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and other senior officials of the country, including the head of the country’s intelligence and defense agencies.

The main goal of these negotiations has been declared to be achieving a ceasefire and advancing peace talks to end the war between the two countries.

According to reports, the sides reached an agreement on the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war from both sides, and Ukraine proposed holding a meeting between the leaders of the two countries by the end of August.

At the beginning of the meeting, Hakan Fidan emphasized that Türkiye is ready to play a role in monitoring the ceasefire and facilitating the exchange of prisoners.

However, Ukrainian officials accused Russia of making “unacceptable” demands, and further details of the results of the talks have not been released.

The talks ended with each side expected to hold separate press conferences soon.
